The Petrohue River Hydrospeed experience delivers pure adrenaline in the heart of Chilean Patagonia. This unique water sport invites you to float on a plastic bodyboard and face powerful rapids at high speed. Born in the 1980s, hydrospeed has grown steadily, and today it attracts adventurers from around the world. If you are looking for an outdoor challenge that blends rafting, kayaking, and bodyboarding, this is your perfect option.
Your Petrohue River Hydrospeed adventure begins with professional preparation and specialized equipment. Each participant receives a life jacket, helmet, full-body neoprene suit, and fins. If needed, you also use kneepads and shin guards. An experienced instructor and a rescue guide accompany the group during the entire excursion, ensuring both safety and enjoyment.
The journey lasts about one hour and a half and covers 8 kilometers of river. Along the way, you will navigate Class III rapids of the Petrohué River, surrounded by impressive volcanic landscapes and crystal-clear waters.
The Hydrospeed Petrohué River experience provides an unmatched sense of connection with nature. Unlike rafting or kayaking, hydrospeed puts you directly in contact with the current. Therefore, every rapid becomes a personal challenge and every wave a victory.
Although it is an individual activity, sharing it with friends makes it more fun and even safer. The key advice is never let go of your hydrospeed board, since it is your only vessel in the water. However, in case of falling, your life jacket will keep you floating without risk.
To make the most of your adventure, it helps to prepare beforehand. For example, sleep well the night before and eat properly a few hours in advance. With enough energy, you will enjoy every second of the rapids.
Finally, the Hydrospeed Petrohué River is more than just a water sport. It is a thrilling, safe, and memorable way to explore Patagonia’s rivers. Dare to experience one of Chile’s most exciting outdoor adventures and take home memories that will last forever.
