SEA KAYAKING ON LAKE RUPANCO WITH HOT SPRINGS

Description

Kayak Lake Rupanco Adventure

The Kayak Lake Rupanco tour begins with a scenic drive from Ensenada to the town of Rupanco, approximately one hour away. Along the way, participants can enjoy breathtaking views of the majestic Osorno Volcano, towering at 2,652 meters above sea level. Upon arrival, we prepare our kayaks and begin a tranquil paddling journey across Lake Rupanco. Moreover, this nearly unexplored lake stretches 45 kilometers from east to west, offering a unique experience in a pristine natural setting.

Sea Kayaking Chile: Explore Waterfalls and Wildlife

Starting at the Puerto Rico sector, we paddle approximately 4 kilometers to the Salto del Calzoncillo waterfall. Depending on the wind, the route can be adjusted to ensure safety. This impressive 400-meter waterfall is among the tallest in South America. The Sea Kayaking Chile route continues with about 10 kilometers of peaceful paddling through blue waters, silently observing the surrounding flora, including olivillos, Chilean myrtles, and giant ferns. Birdwatchers can spot native species such as kingfishers, quetro ducks, red-gartered coots, and cormorants. In addition, the calm waters allow for reflection and connection with nature.

Kayaking Hot Springs Relaxation

The tour concludes at the Las Gaviotas sector, where participants can unwind in natural hot springs. The Kayaking Hot Springs experience combines relaxation with the extraordinary views of the Andes and surrounding volcanoes. A delicious picnic in this serene environment completes the adventure. Finally, we paddle the last 4 kilometers back to the starting point, where a van transfer returns participants to Ensenada.

ITINERARY

1. Departure from Ensenada
We begin our journey along the shores of Lake Llanquihue, the second-largest lake in Chile. From there, we head by van to the town of Rupanco, approximately one hour from Ensenada. Along the way, we enjoy stunning views of the majestic Osorno Volcano rising 2,652 meters above sea level.

2. Arrival at Lake Rupanco
Continuing our route, we reach Lake Rupanco, known for its long and narrow shape extending 45 km from east to west. This remote and little-explored lake lies at the foot of the Andes, dominated by the impressive Puntiagudo and Casablanca Volcanoes.

3. Start of Kayak Navigation
At the Puerto Rico sector, we begin our calm kayak paddling, covering approximately 4 km toward the Calzoncillo Waterfall.
Note: Depending on wind conditions, the direction of the route may change. The waterfall, about 400 meters tall, is considered one of the highest in South America.

4. Exploration of Native Flora and Fauna
We continue paddling approximately 10 km through clear blue waters, quietly observing the lush native vegetation—olivillos, Chilean myrtles, giant ferns—and spotting local birdlife such as kingfishers, quetro ducks, red-gartered coots, and cormorants.

5. “Las Gaviotas” Hot Springs Stop
We arrive at the sector known as Las Gaviotas (“The Gulls”), where we can relax and enjoy a delicious picnic in natural hot springs. Surrounded by pristine nature, lake views, and imposing volcanoes, this peaceful setting allows us to fully connect with the energy and tranquility of the landscape.
