Description

Osorno Volcano MTB Trail Overview

The Osorno Volcano MTB Trail is a full-day mountain biking adventure through one of Chile’s most spectacular landscapes. The journey begins in Puerto Varas with an early pickup. Riders head toward the Andes and make a first stop at Ensenada, the gateway to Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park. Moreover, this location offers impressive views of the Osorno Volcano and serves as the perfect starting point for an unforgettable ride. Additionally, participants can enjoy the serene lakefront before preparing their bikes.

Scenic Route Across Osorno Volcano MTB Trail

From Ensenada, the route follows the northern shore of Lake Llanquihue, passing through the charming town of Las Cascadas. Cyclists then climb toward La Picada, the northern entrance of the park. Along the way, you will ride through traditional farms and lush forests, experiencing the region’s rural beauty. In addition, panoramic views of surrounding volcanoes and lakes provide incredible photo opportunities. Therefore, every pedal stroke offers both a physical challenge and a chance to immerse in Chilean landscapes. The Osorno Volcano MTB Trail makes sure that cyclists can enjoy a dynamic mix of terrains, from paved paths to gravel roads.

Desolation Pass Challenge

The highlight of the day is the Paso Desolación Trail, a historic mountain pass crossing the Osorno Volcano. This 24-kilometer trail includes 12 kilometers of ascent, 2 kilometers of flat terrain, and 10 kilometers of thrilling descent. Meanwhile, volcanic landscapes shaped by past Calbuco eruptions add a unique layer of adventure. Moreover, the trail tests technical skills while offering breathtaking views of nearby lakes and forests. Riders experience a perfect balance of adrenaline, scenery, and endurance. The Osorno Volcano MTB Trail is ideal for experienced cyclists looking for a challenging and memorable ride.
