Meeting Point

  • A coordination and information meeting will take place the day before the excursion.
  • We will depart from Puerto Varas at 6:00 AM, heading towards the slopes of Osorno Volcano, ascending to an altitude of 1,200 meters above sea level.
  • Upon arrival, we will register at the CONAF offices and begin the hike. After approximately two hours of walking, we will reach the glacier.
  • Here, we will gear up and participate in a technical briefing. The guide will teach participants how to use an ice axe, crampons, and roped walking techniques. The briefing lasts approximately 35 minutes.
  • Following this, we will start crossing the glacier toward the serac field. Seracs are massive ice blocks that rise from the glacier, forming stunning shapes and structures.
  • At this location, we will enjoy lunch while admiring breathtaking views of the volcanoes and the shores of Lake Llanquihue. If weather conditions allow, the Pacific Ocean can also be seen from this vantage point.
  • Around 1:30 PM, we will begin our descent back to the CONAF office, from where we will return to Puerto Varas, arriving between 4:00 and 5:00 PM.
